Azar Nafisi

I spent some time with an artist friend this evening. He is a master of many techniques, including watercolor, pastel, oil paint, ink pen, and wood burning. His abilities shine most brightly in his portraits. Unfortunately, this visit left me with no time to create artwork of my own today. But his portraiture inspires me to share a portrait I drew a couple years ago. This is Iranian author Azar Nafisi, drawn in graphite pencil. I recommend her memoir “Reading Lolita in Tehran.”
